Title - Derby Day (1936)

Artist - Edward Seago

Young and amorous, Seago looked for novel experiences to use as inspiration for his paintings. When he was nineteen, he traveled with a circus, taking in the fresh air, unrestricted lifestyle, and vibrant inspiration of the performers in their caravans and tents. It's evident that the thrill of Derby Day gave him the same kind of inspiration, with the audience and horses combining to create the lively atmosphere he so much enjoyed.
